Lovely Moon

In
Philippians 4:8

One of the things
God
tells us
to
think on is whatsoever is lovely .

The moon is lovely
and
I have loved it as long as I can remember

 because
of a Daddy who taught his little ones
the magic of the night sky
who
taught them to love the stars and the moon
to call the constellations by name
and
greet the moon as an old  friend

 because
of a letter written long ago
by
a young man on a Navy ship during a war
who wrote to his wife

the same moon that is shining
so
brightly on me tonight
is
the same moon that is watching over you for me tonight

because
sometimes if I close my eyes real tight I can hear
a tiny little voice whisper in the dark
Nana,
goodnight  moon.

last night

  6. I love the moon, Dottie, for many of the same reasons you do. I often think of it shining on those I love that are far away. It makes them feel closer somehow. xo Diana

  9. Beautiful! Sometimes when I see the sun rise or the moon hovering, my mind drifts to the family that lived before me... I see it and think, wow.. that's the same moon that my grandpa looked at as a kid. Of course, my kids say that they think i use drugs when I say random stuff like that. lol.
