Today
Miss Addie
is
proudly doing her job
of
looking pretty and making me smile.

proudly doing her job
of
looking pretty and making me smile.
Today I am smiling with these begonias that whispered to me
when
they were tiny cuttings from a friend"s
garden
"We will be beautiful. "
Today I think the zinnias are putting on a show for me.
Someone
must have told them they are my favorite flower
and
my summer doesn't start until they show their pretty faces.
Today I picked green beans
and
I think tonight and maybe tomorrow night
too
green bean and new potatoes
in
a light lemon sauce
will
make me very happy indeed.
Today happy flowers are blooming in my bottle garden.
They make me smile
even
though I did not plant them
and
they take up too much room .
They make me smile
even

and
they take up too much room .
I
find them irresistible.
find them irresistible.
Today I have been
thinking
I hope Miss Addie does not have fleas
thinking
I hope Miss Addie does not have fleas
because
someone I know
does!!
Today I sang "My Dog Has Fleas " to Alfie
as
I bathed him in an old tin tub with flea shampoo
and
welcomed summer into by heart and garden.
Smiles,
Dottie

Oh! Sorry about the fleas, but like you seem to be, you put a nice spin on it as you chatted with Miss Addie, who looks lovely by the way. Enjoy your garden ... ours is on the way! Your mom looks beautiful. Enjoy your times with her. I know you are grateful. I missed my mom on Mother's day -- and every day as it's still fresh in my heart,
ReplyDeleteWe've had some much needed rain today and that's been good, too. Sweet hugs to you my friend!
ReplyDeleteOh the zinnias are so happy! I wish I had enough sun for them. Everything is lovely.....well maybe not the fleas. Enjoy you week. Bonnie
ReplyDeleteWow your garden is really coming along. We're just getting started here. You have very well dressed scarecrows!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that your garden is ready to harvest! We had intended to plant one this year - but life got in the way. Enjoy those fresh veggies!
ReplyDeleteLovely garden with Miss Addie adding her serene beauty. Wonderful blooms and veggies. What a nuisance fleas are!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ~ FlowerLady
oh no.. a flea bath! : ) Your flowers look amazing! We won't see Zinnia's around here until late August. I am waiting for my hydrangias.. they are close! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteBeans already? Mine are two inches high. Love the scarecrow. I haven't done one in years. I always used to have a scarecrow in a formal by the garden.
ReplyDeleteThis morning when I saw you glamourous Miss Addie I went back and added your link to my latest post...she is just too elegant and I thought she should be shared with as many people as possible. Have a happy day!
ReplyDeleteYou sound like an optimistic person; I hope the fleas enjoyed your song! :)
ReplyDeleteThe produce from your garden looks and sounds delicious.

Love this post Dottie, I can hear the happiness and contentment in it. And who else would have such a lovely "watcher of the garden" as Miss Addie?! No one. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat is the yellow flower in bottle tree garden? I love it, looks like a coneflower???
Yum! Your salad sounds so good.
Wishing you and Alfie a lovely holiday weekend!
Miss Addie is so adorable I just want to give her a big hug! Your garden is so far ahead of ours in Idaho. It's been a strange spring here. Can't wait to get down to Texas to start gardening there. Have a great weekend and enjoy your beautiful zinnias!
ReplyDeleteBig Hugs,
Susan and Bentley
As I have said before, I love your Miss Addie! I want to make my own version "Miss Addie"! How does she handle the rain?
