I fell in love with Valentine's Day
long ago
as I proudly carried the box my mother
made
to hold my valentines into my second grade classroom.
Today I am thinking about things that are lovely
and
seem to belong in the month of February
like tiny hearts, flowers,
ribbons and lace.
Things like chocolate, pink nail polish and bubble bath.
my favorite
from my dad to my grandmother
raspberry hearts
grandbabies
I am so glad that after a long, cold, dark
January
there is a warm, red day in the middle of
February .

Dearest Dottie,
ReplyDeleteYour post is so lovely, so touching and so full of loving sentiment. What precious grandchildren you have to light up your days.
Thank you for stopping by and for your thoughtful comment. I hope that "I Can Only Imagine" touched your heart and lifted you up.
Blessings,
Carolynn xoxo
How beautiful! It's wonderful to have a holiday that is fun and beautiful, too. What sweet memories we have of past Valentine's days! Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI remember that Valentine's Day, so sweet!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet Valentine Memoir! I love Vintage Valentines!
ReplyDeleteHope your bread turns out fine. Just my two cents tho~ it was okay when it came out of the oven but when it cooled off a bit it was much better. That is kind of strange because normally I love hot bread out of the oven. Anyhow, it was good and hope you enjoy it too!
That is so neat you have those old Valentines that are so special. Your grandchildren are adorable. I will have my first in April.
ReplyDeleteThe cutest valentines, but the babies are cuter.
ReplyDeleteAdorable...... grandbabies and vintage valentines!
ReplyDeleteThe kids are so darn cute! But now I want a cookie!
ReplyDeleteWonderful grandchildren!
ReplyDeleteLove the vintage Valentines, but love the faces on those darling children even more!
ReplyDeleteHugs,

ReplyDeleteHappy weekend and Happy Valentines Day to you!
Hello Dottie
ReplyDeleteIt's almost mid February, but winter is not over at my place. In fact we never had so much snow as today! You are the lucky one. Have a nice weekend. Regula

Oh your grandchildren are precious!
ReplyDeleteI agree it is the cheeriest day with hearts and love and a reason to celebrate.
ReplyDeleteHi Dottie,
ReplyDeleteYour beautiful post today took me back to my own happy childhood memories of school in Canada and the holidays that were celebrated in the classroom. Sadly, in Greece, these things are considered too commercial and the little ones, in my opinion, lose out on the sweet stuff that keep us 'American' folks' memories alive and kicking!
Hope you have a wonderfully whimsical Valentine's day. I WILL have a raspberry heart (okay, or two!) to honour my (North) American roots and traditions!
