Each August
dazzling lights illuminate the night sky
during
the Perseid meteor shower......
Last Saturday was the night this August.
To get the best view far away from the city lights
we
went somewhere perfect.....
Where
twilight was soft and velvety
the blue hour seemed to last forever
we listened to a symphony of night sounds along with a chorus of frogs all through the night
the trees were dressed in long drapes of Spanish moss
magical fireflies suddenly appeared in every tree
and
danced around us to a song only they could hear
we followed a trail lit only with tiny red lights to light the way
over a lake
and
up a hill
we looked up into the dark sky where time seem to stand still
as
comets with glowing tails so bright and fast
you could see their trails even after they had disappered into the darkness
I counted more comets
on
that one night than I had expected to see in a lifetime
as
they raced through the heavens and into my heart forever
Amazing
I wish I could have saved some to give to you.....
