Making August A Month Of Lazy Days

Where did July go? It is already the first day of August!
It is so very hot. but also so lovely!
Have you been watching Venus as she rises and sets in the early evening sky? She is very bright and large.
Stargazing is beautiful in the summer.
Last night while I was stargazing I heard the midsummer song of the cicadas in the trees
and
a  summer symphony by what seemed like a hundred frogs.
It was glorious!!

Yesterday morning very early I took my iced coffee out on the patio to enjoy. The Crepe Myrtle tree was covered with butterflies, birds were at the feeder, a  squirrel was in the pine tree and  I saw a tiny green  hummingbird enjoying the morning.

God is so good!

I am going to savor every moment left of summer. I am going to
look at seed catalogs, plant my fall garden,
make pesto from my zillion basil plants,
stay up late and sleep in,
watch the moon and stars,
watch for bats in the bat house in the pine tree,
make shrimp scampi
and
go to farmer markets.

Could this be Prunella, Cinderella's mean stepsister?
rest awhile

Will you rest awhile with me ?

Let's savor a lazy summer day together!!

  6. Lazy is one of the things I love about summer!
Love your photos, and the iced coffee is so delicious! I only discovered it this year..and it goes down a little too quickly :)
Farmers markets are so much fun too! We did that in St. Jacobs Country again this summer.
Id love to rest awhile with you my sweet friend Dottie...

  7. Summer heat, Southern lazy days - the true art of relaxation. We need to cultivate this more.
I like stargazing also, but in my yard there are more trees than sky, and in our neighborhood the lights just about obliterate the stars. However, I do go out to see whatever I can. This month Mars is suppose to be spectacular early am in the east and later pm in the western sky.
Thanks for the water, soap, oo. I have heard of that but was not sure of the porportions.

  11. I’m visiting because of the Outdoor Wednesday Blog Hop. It’s easy to get lost in the midst of all those links and it may take me all week to read all the posts but your post has proven why it is worth the effort.

I particularly love the shots of the crepe myrtle and the hummingbird. I have both out my back windows but I just cannot capture them focused and artistic in frame!

And I sure did not see any bats, but I did catch sight of something in my back yard that made my heart soar. You are welcome to visit my blog and see what I mean if you get the time..

  14. Hi Dottie, thanks so much for stopping by my blog and leaving such a lovely comment. This post is wonderful - you are living the life I am aspiring to live! I just retired in January and am still getting used to the fact that I am my own timekeeper. The other day I had to remind myself that I could stop the car in the driveway to watch two little does frollick around the field while their mother grazed under the old apple tree. It was a lovely feeling! I'm your newest follower - can't wait to be inspired with your next post! Ciao, bella!
