Good-Bye June

The month of June has been slow and simple.

I have sort of gone with the flow of sunshine and moonlight.

This what I have been doing.

taking walks

eating strawberries

daydreaming

learning to slow down

singing out loud with the grand babies

reading cookbooks

laughing

wearing flip flops

learning to make hummus

loving my June garden

discovering new to me happy music

Celebrating Summer

It was been very warm on the Gulf Coast.

It is summertime and I love it!

To celebrate the first day of summer.We swam, we ate popsicles, we enjoyed cool drinks,

we ate seafood ceviche, and then, we went to the beach.
Summer's going to be wonderful !

It was so good!   Ah,summertime !

Guess What I Really Love?

I grew up on a farm and we grew almost everything.

We grew peanuts and my four brothers could never eat enough of them.
I don't like peanuts.

I really,really love popcorn.

We grew almost everything except we didn't grow popcorn!!!

I like movie popcorn and I like kettle corn but,
I am a stay at home kind of girl . This is how I am going to enjoy popcorn tonight.

Made with olive oil and sea salt
and
popped in a very old kettle.

With a glass of red wine.

Watching this movie.

Staying Cool and Content

It is only June and it has been so warm.I have been trying to find ways to keep cool and to be content with summer.

The pool is a cool place. I can float,splash.or just sit in it to cool off and look at my garden and the chickens at the same time!!!

 

On the coast when night falls and the moon rises low in the western sky with the planet Venus hanging just below it

a soft breeze begins to stir in the night sky.

I forget how very warm the day was and I listen to the night sounds

and again have summer love!!!!

The lovely gentle music of our youth.

The light of strings of tiny white lights and the fluttering glow of many candles fill the rooms of my home at dusk and through the night
along with the soft swishing of the fans
a southern must have.

It is a warm summer
but I am content to be in this moment and with my life.

A Glimse Into My World

Here are some of the happy things in my world.

I adore vintage clothes!!!

I love to open my closet door each morning and see rows of pastel colors, lace, silk and tulle.

Do I wear them?

No

but Addie does !!!

I don't wear these either

but

I so love looking at them !!!

Some of these brooches were my Grandmother's and her Mother's.

Some I found here and there.

A new to me blue bowl in the roses.

A Blue Jay feeds here everyday.

I love this little cement garden gnome brought at an estate sale many years ago.

It looks so lovely in moonlight.

The Easter Chicks Update

For Easter I brought two chicks for my grandchildren to enjoy.

This what they are looking at and they are so cute!!

 

Easter was April 4th and the chicks grew and grew. They were in a

large box in my laundry room. The children also grew to love them more and more and so did  I!

In almost no time the chicks out grew the box and could jump out of  it .

So they had to have a coop and I don't live in the country!!!!!!

The chicks had turned into small chickens. So my friend started building them a coop to live in.

I let them out of their coop yesterday to play in the garden for the first time!!!

 

We named them Rose and  Rouge.

I did not know chickens have blue eyes.

There's more I don't know about these chickens. I don't know if they are hens!!!!

And 

we will not talk about how I got them back in their coop

but

let's just say it was not easy!

I think I have chicken ♥.

O Lord please let them be hens.
