I feel as if I am standing still and time is
spinning around and around me ! It seems like the older I get
the faster time passes .
I was looking over my summer to do list
and
there are so many projects I have started and did not finish .
Now that I have admitted it to myself and to you it seems
somewhat easier to begin working on them again !
I have finished painting my bedroom smoky plum, made drapes from vintage sheets a friend gave me from France and layered my bed with white linens . It is almost ready to show you !
I have painted the wine rack that I found on the curb early one morning .
I just need to finish the chalk board I want to hang above it !
I have been wanting to go to France for as long as I can remember
and
I have just not gone .
It is time I make that happen !
and
I have just not gone .
It is time I make that happen !
Since the things I wanted to show you are not finished
I will show you some that are !
fall on my sideboard
fall on my sideboard
a chocolate cake made of silk flowers and potpourri on the tea cart
all of the kitchen cabinets organized
the beginning of my fall table settings
watching the moon as much as possible in this lifetime
I don't like not finishing what I have started
but
I have been busy teaching my grandbabies to say polite words, walking on the beach at sunset,
feeding chickens, learning to make pickles and stargazing .
Have you been busy doing what is really important to you also ?
Dottie
Dottie, I think you have been doing the very most important things in life... =)
ReplyDeleteLook forward to seeing your plum bedroom!
back at blogging and reading posts. you have done alot of activities. i think if you wat to go to France, plan it. I went the 1st year after my mother died and met family. it's so different from America. I may go back next year with a friend. Go for it! rose
ReplyDeleteI am sure the kids are on the top of the list, and stay there, so you can check that off.
ReplyDeleteThen look at the things you have done, check them off too. Now see your long list with all those check marks. Why worry about the other things - you will get to them also.
You had a busy, productive summer!
It sounds and looks like you have been very busy this summer....Nothing more important than the little ones!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
I am working on the house which is what I need to do if I am going to do my "other things"...one more year of hard work then I am FREE !!lol....definitely go to France but bring lots of money!!..it is expensive! especially Paris! I would love to give that trip to my niece for graduating from law school this year...we shall see!
ReplyDeleteOh you've been so busy my friend...and everything looks so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI've been busy too with projects but they are taking longer to finish due to other daily commitments...
but good things often take time... :)
I love the things you've been busy with...grandbabies wont stay little for long
and every moment with them is a gift...
and oh the sunsets...
Joyous weekend Dottie, my sweet friend
Deborah xo
Sounds to me Dottie like you have been busy with the most important things....creating wonderful memories for your grandchildren. I think that ranks right up there at the top or at least in the top three most important things in life!
ReplyDeleteOh Honey girl, You remind me so much of my other self. You know the one before I lost my child. You are so productive and all you have shared with us is majestic. As your other readers have said you are doing the very most important and that is with your family. I love you teaching the little ones polite words. Wish all adults felt the same. These days, I am just so thankful I was able to get through another day and anything productive I accomplished was just icing on the cake. You are always in my prayers as I know I'm in yours. Love, Mollye
ReplyDeleteI love the chocolate cake! Did you make that unique piece? I am enjoying your blog and came by from Rose's wonderful, thoughtful blog. I hope you will join me soon. Anne
ReplyDeleteSending a sweet hello from Frog Hollow Farm! Wow, I've been missing so much of what's been happening with my blogging friends, it's good to be back! I love all of the things you've accomplished so far, and you seem to be in the middle of some fantastic projects. Those cranberry glasses are just so beautiful and so nicely organized. You sound very content even though you wish you'd finished more of what was on your summer list, but teaching grandbabies is something you just have to do, along with walks on the beach and taking care of those chickens (I so miss our chickens!) Ciao, bella!
ReplyDeleteThe moon is beautiful..seems the harvest moon always is. I understand what you're saying about time.
ReplyDeleteAnd see my favorite spode plate there on your table!
Hi Dottie! Just stopping by to say hi! I've been helping my expecting daughter move. Can't wait to see your bedroom makeover.
ReplyDeleteOh Dottie,
ReplyDeleteOne step at a time and enoy your journey!
Time with loved ones, planning the trip of a lifetime, completing projects around the house, watching the moon... each one of these is special!
I love hearing about feeding your chickens... I've always wanted chickens!
Dee Dee
Good morning Dottie!
ReplyDeleteIm giving you an award this morning because you have the sweetest heart and I love visiting with you...
I was given an award this morning by Shines Thyme and if you go to my blog post it gives instructions there on how to receive it..
This is new to me, so I hope I did everything correctly..
Have a sweet day my dear friend..
With all my heart...Deborah xo
I am always amazed to find such kindred spirits here on our blogs. I could have written this..except I have wanted to go to Italy for as long as I can remember. I get overwhelmed and don't spend my time doing the things that are important to me. I have to sit and write in my journal to focus! Love your photo of the moon...I am in awe! ♥
