Back To School

School is starting  OH MY GOODNESS !!!!.

My heart is singing back to school, back to school !
I was a fourth grade teacher for what seemed like forever.
I always loved school . I still do.

I like school supplies, new books and old books ....
A library full of  books makes my heart almost stand still with joy
and
don't get me started on my chalkboard love !!!

I don't teach fourth grade anymore and I don't miss it because
my daughter-in-law is a teacher .

She is starting her new year Monday .

My little grand babies spend the day with me while she is at school .
They are too young to go to school
but
we play school every day !!

I think I am so lucky !

I graduated from teaching school to playing school .

Today I am going to link to Cindy's Show And Tell

  2. What lucky Grandchildren you have to be able to spend that much time with their Grandmother.

I never thought I would say this but I miss school clothes shopping and school supply shopping with my kids. That's just weird!

  3. I am not going to analyze it, but there is a sense of excitement every fall when school is about to start. Perhaps just a change in routine, or the beginning of something - opps, I said I would not do that.

With all the things that you do with the kids, and I see the activity/learning books on the table, they will be well-ready for school when they do start.

I guess your recess comes when everybody goes home.

The kids look like they have grown since the last time you posted pictures of them. They are so cute.

  7. I love this post. My brother was a year ahead of me in school and he saved me something in his lunchbox every day and taught me what he learned that day so when I went to first grade, I was pretty smart. I can't say that for the rest of it!!
I love the patriotic outfits especially the shirt with the tie..
Thank you for commenting on my post. No,we didn't bring anything home but were looking for a window to use for a divider and might go back and get the pair with plain glass. It was overwhelming and my hubby is not a shopper other than what we are there for. Plus, no ac!

  10. How much more fun it would be to play school than to actually teach it! You must enjoy this. Dottie, can I ask what are you doing for Tasha Tudor Day? I saw this on your blog and I would love to participate. I am just not so sure what I am doing. I did go visit Storybook Woods and read her post on it. But, not sure how it works.
You can email me or anything. Thanks.

  11. Aren't you the lucky one? and the kids too! I did this with my niece and nephew (they are now 27 and 28) and it was the best time of my life! Keeps you busy but to have such an impact on little lives ..it is so worth it! It does take a village...

  13. I "get" this so much!

    My order went like this:

    Playing school as a child
    Teaching school
Back to playing school with my kids
    Back to teaching school

Now, I'm anxious for your season, playing school again with grandkids! It will definitely be a simple pleasure.

  16. You are lucky. I was a teacher also, and always get excited at the start of a new school year. I teach piano, so I kind of get the same feeling. Enjoy!

  18. Hi Dottie, how fortunate your grandchildren are to be able to spend their days with their grandmother. As grandparents, we have the opportunity to influence our grandchildren in a special way. Enjoy.....Lisha
