"Little darling, it's been a long cold lonely winter,
I feel that ice is slowly melting,
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun
And I say it's all right..."...George Harrison
I have always been a gardener
maybe
because I grew up on a farm
maybe because
as
soon as I awake I want to be outdoors
because
my garden
rainbow chard
collard greens
herbs
broccoli rade collards
This is my favorite
I pray the sun is shining on your garden today, too.

The sun came out...it really, really did....
and
I am in the garden
I have always been a gardener
maybe
because I grew up on a farm
maybe because
as
soon as I awake I want to be outdoors
because
I am the kind of girl who delights
in
feeling the sun on her back
hearing raindrops on her straw hat
sitting on the damp garden soil
who likes to play in the dirt
and
is not the least bit squeamish at the sight of a worm
rainbow chard
collard greens
herbs
broccoli rade collards
We southern girls love our greens
and
I think I have cooked every recipe in this book
I pray the sun is shining on your garden today, too.

Is the bottle filled with water and nutrients Dottie? If this is your garden at this time of the year, we are very jealous!
ReplyDeleteNo sun here Dear, cold, dreary and promises of showers in the forecast judging from the clouds gathering over the mountains...
Have a blessed Sunday,
Yes it is my garden today. I live a long the Texas Gulf Coast.
DeleteI'm jealous too, but spring is just around the corner. Frogs trilling, birds chirping - all my animals can sense it too. I have planted greens in the greenhouse, but our last frost is mid April so I dare not get too antsy.
ReplyDeleteWish we were neighbors, we could be friends. I was born and raised in the country and a lot of it is till instilled in me. We share so many things in common. Enjoy the outdoors and fresh air.
ReplyDeleteYour garden looks luscious and delicious as does that lovely plate of delectable food.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week ~ FlowerLady
The brightness of your sun and the lush greens of your garden makes it look ilke early summer, not the end of Winter!
ReplyDeleteYou have the best vegetable garden...everything looks so healthy and perfectly grown. How is Miss Addy doing?
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful photos of your lush and lovely garden!

Elisabeth
Oh how I look forward to seeing lush green gardens again! Still too cold here, but Spring is on it's way! I went to the market to buy a nice bunch of greens today so it's timely that I took a moment to check your blog this morning!
ReplyDeleteI love, love greens. Yours look so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss all this beauty????
ReplyDeleteWell, better late than never...
Tessa~
Your garden is so beautiful, Dottie! I wish I had better luck with veggies, but I seem to be best with flowers. Oh, I wish we had Spring here, now, instead of all this snow... just seeing all those lovely colors and shades of green in your garden is making me yearn for it. Soon, I hope!
