Tonight it is very cold, damp and miserable outside
inside it is cozy,warm
  oh so wonderful!

The candles are flicking, the dishwasher is humming
there is one more piece of pecan pie.

I have been thinking about how very soon old man winter will
for his long visit!

I dislike being cold and I am a stay at home kind of girl
tonight I am making a list
some of my favorite movies to add
 my Netflix queue
to watch on long cold winter evenings wrapped in my grandmother's quilt.

Some of my favorites are

Anna and The King

Out Of Africa

Ryan's Daughter

Something's Gotta Give

The Princess Bride

Practical Magic

The Piano

White Christmas

What are some of your favorites?

  1. Your list fits my likes perfectly.
Have you seen Australia? It is long and wonderful.
I watched August Rush while cooking last week, it has become one of my favorites.

You can't go wrong with Camelot....I love singing along. Now you have me singing....a law was made a distant moon ago........

  2. Dear Dottie,

I love your list of movies; I haven't seen some of them, so I'll have to put them on my "must watch" list. I love watching "Little Women" this time of year, as well as "Wives and Daughters" and "Cranford".

  3. I still haven't seen The Princess Bride and I just know I need to! I love many of these same ones, Dottie. I was trying to remember the name of one that Nicole Kidman was in about a sheep farm in Australia. It was such a good, clean movie. I went to the show all by myself to see it and loved it. I think it is one you would enjoy, too. I'll try to remember what the name of it was. :/

I know you miss your Little Ones...

Blessings to you and enjoy that last piece of pecan pie. {{hugs}} tanna

  4. Love that Cody feeling and The Piano was a great movie

  5. A nice way to spend a cold evening.

  6. Oh...I do love nesting in the winter so. Not too much time....but among my very favorites are August Rush...Cranford....Cold Mountain....recently we've just completed all four seasons of Larkrise to Candleford. A most beautiful series. Blessings sweet friend~~Shine

  7. My list is too long, but here's a few:
The Bishop's Wife (with Cary Grant)
    Bright Star
The Tree of Life (just saw this and loved it)
Jane Eyre (the one that just came out)
    mostly anything with Robert Duvall

  8. You have the most random collection of favorites I think I have ever seen and I love it! Thank you for sharing. I like The Usual Suspects, Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, Count of Monte Cristo, A Chef in Love and Thomas Crown Affair with Pierce Brosnan in it.

  9. I love to curl up in bed with a hot cuppa tea and watch The Queen!
Hope you are having a delightful holiday season!

  10. I love all your choices but The Princess Bride was always a favorite for the kids when they were small! I still love it today! Camelot! Ah.....Snow is heading our way. It is cold already!
