Because It's Summer

Summer

is my favorite season.

The days are long and bright.
The nights are dark and filled with twinkling stars.

Summer in Texas is also hot!!!!!

So every summer I give myself permission

to slow down

to lazily drift with the day from sunrise until sunset

to just enjoy every minute of it!!!!!

So
the tomatoes in the garden are ripe
and
I grew my plants from seeds.

I have been trying to beat the birds to the fig tree every morning.
The figs are ripe.
Have you ever eaten ripe figs with Mascarpone Fresca and honey?
I do every morning in the garden swing
listening
to the birds chattering to each other .

The water is just perfect in the pool
to
lazily float from one side to the other

I hope it is good exercise....Heehee!

I want to make
Cuban Style Red Snapper
but
my kitchen is too hot!!!

I have been watching the DVD over and over again
of
Andrea Bocelli in Central Park!

I think his voice must be like the voices angels sing with in Heaven.

Every morning when I open my bedroom curtains to say hello to the sun
I always think this must be like waking up in Alice in Wonderland.

The garden fence is covered completely in
Heavenly Blue Morning Glories

Wonderful things happen in the summer
like this morning as I walked to the mail box
I
stopped to smell a blooming gardenia
and
a tiny baby mocking bird that was waiting for his mommy to come
feed him
looked up at me.

It's funny but I instantly thought about a book by Doctor Seuss
I  read to my grandbabies.

"Are You My Mother?"

I don't want to miss one second of summer
....even when it is hot....
After all I live in Bluebell Ice Cream country....

Smiles.

Dottie

I haven't had fresh figs in so long. We had trees when I was a child and I loved picking them and eating them all.......my mouth would get raw!!
